It went from a BL marque to a trim level for quite a few of Rover Groups vehicles.
The last MG Rover Group vehicle was almost certainly the Rover 75, 2.5 V6, Connoisseur which was transformed into a Vanden Plas at Mac Neillie & Son

and the many cars it did.
In the end being not so much rebuilt by Vanden Plas Princess Cars but being a trim level built by other companies with Vanden Plas now being owned by Rover.

Jaguar Cars acquired the Vanden Plas name in North America when they were split off from BL in the 80s, with Rover keeping the trademark in the UK/rest of world, which is now held by SAIC. They started out as a coachbuilder in Belgium who relocated across the channel.
